This meeting will finalize the study group reports for the overall WOC 4 Distribution Committee. The study areas are –
- ACCESS – Development of supply, and removal of barriers towards infrastructure development.
- MARKETS — Increasing opportunities to grow demand, integration of gas with other forms of energy, and removal of market barriers
- SOCIAL LICENSE – Improvement to safety and reliability, reduction of the environmental impact, driving higher energy efficiency, and improving community engagement.
Mr. Biederman is Study Group 1 Leader. The subject of the WOC 4.1 Study Group is the Role of DSO*: Market creation and facilitation. The the SG1 study report will be finalized at this fifth meeting.
The objectives envolve the LDC’s activities on the promotion, development and facilitation of the gas market–focusing on the i) use of new technologies to reduce the cost of attaching new customers, ii) expanding and maintaining the existing infrastructure, and iii) how the industry is supplying customers with virtual pipelines. Case studies to demonstrate successful activities in these areas will be identified.
The scope of IGU Distribution 4.1 Study Group includes best practices in different countries and operating companies; regulatory limits; and recommendations. The focus of the study also includes the customer’s relationship with the gas company and how that impacts on market development and retention as these do not overlap with SG2’s activities.
